How to start
Setup takes about three minutes and no sign-up is needed for the first run. The tool unpacks entries in the browser with WebAssembly, so a 500 MB archive holding 4,000 files indexes in roughly six seconds on a mid-range laptop. You finish with a repacked ZIP saved to your Downloads folder.
- Drag a .zip, .7z, .rar, .tar or .gz file onto the drop zone, or pick one from the sample library.
- Wait for the index: a 500 MB archive usually lists within 6 seconds; a 2 GB one may take up to 40 seconds.
- Tick the folders or individual files you want to keep; the preview pane opens text, CSV, JSON and images up to 20 MB.
- Press Repack as ZIP and choose Store for speed or Maximum for the smallest output.
- Download the result; the link stays active for 60 minutes and the files are cleared from memory when you close the tab.
Do I need an account to use ZipDemo?
No. The free tier handles 10 archives per day at up to 2 GB each without registration. An account is only needed for the Pro plan, which starts with a 14-day trial and costs 7 USD per month afterwards.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox 110+ and Safari 16.4+ run the full engine. Older versions fall back to a basic mode capped at 200 MB per archive and 100 entries.
What happens with a password-protected archive?
ZipDemo asks for the password once, keeps it in memory only, and supports AES-256 and ZipCrypto. The password is never sent to a server, and the export keeps the same encryption.
